The Seven Watch Over You

Moradonia embraces a simple pantheon of seven deities, each with a paired - sometimes contradictory - set of domains under their control. Each deity has two aspects, reflecting each domain, and appears to worshippers in different forms; none of the Seven are male or female consistently.

The Rider of the Sky [Tempest and Order]
The great Rider (of the Sky) has mastery of the wind, lightning, the weather and the heavens themselves. They form the Great Hunt, the Celestial themselves across the sky, and the ordered passage of time with each star and each day exactly in alignment.

The Guardian of Earth [Nature, Forge]
By contrast, the Guardian (of Earth) is a force of chaotic creation, spawning all of the plants and animals, geography of land and sea, as well as the creative spark that drives the mortal races to their great endevours. They are forever changing and evolving, with old features eroding and new inventions taking their place.

The Ancient [Grave, Knowledge]
The Ancient represents the belief in perpetual knowledge, saved from the Gateway of Death and maintained through the actions of their Grave Talkers; those that speak to the dead to retain their experiences. All knowledge, however trivial, passes through the fingers of the Ancient.

The Keeper of Gates [Life, Death]
The most beloved and feared of the Seven, the Keeper (of Gates) welcomes new life into the world and ushers the dead away, never to be seen again. In between, they are also the guardian of this plane, maintaining the Gate and denying entry to the mortal world for gods and other planar beings.

The Arbiter [War, Peace]
The Arbiter sits in constant judgement over the lives of Moradonians, deciding whether they have lived a just or unjust existence. Judgement can be swift and brutal - used as a reason for peaceful resolution or all-out warfare between peoples. Only a priest of the Arbiter can sanction war in Moradonia.

The Celestial [Light, Twilight]
Embodied by the Sun and the Moon, the Celestial is a tragic figure - condemned to constantly be changing, with waxing and waning power and constantly pursued by the Rider and their Great Hunt. An enigmatic figure, their anger is noted at times of conflict in the heavens; eclipses, blood moons etc.

The Imp [Arcana, Trickery]
The youngest and least understood of the Seven, the Imp gave magic to the mortal races and instructs them in rebellion against the Seven itself. Where the others are agents of the status quo, the Imp drives constant change and chaos.
